Office

Where are you located?

We are centrally located in Austin, TX, on South Lamar at 2525 S Lamar Suite 12 Austin TX 78704.

Our studio is set back in the orange brick building behind Hattie B’s restaurant.

You can enter our parking lot from South Lamar, between Walgreens and Hattie B’s. Drive straight back to reach the parking lot, then go to the building on your right. We are in Suite 12 on the ground floor.

You can also enter our parking lot from Bluebonnet Lane, behind Walgreens. Drive past the Walgreens drive-through, then turn left into the parking lot between the two orange brick buildings.

We recommend arriving a few minutes early for your first appointment so you have extra time to find us.

Do you have parking?

Yes! We offer a free parking lot with plenty of space.

There are two parking areas available. Our main parking lot is located between the two orange brick buildings. The spaces are numbered, but they are not reserved, so you may park in any available spot.

Our overflow parking is located behind Walgreens. You may park in any of the available spots behind Walgreens.

Do I need to make an appointment?

We are by appointment only. It’s easy to schedule and manage your appointments online!

Do you accept walkins?

We cannot accept any walkins. You must schedule an appointment to get a massage in our studio.

Can I get a couples massage?

We would love to help you and your sweetie, or a friend, relax together. We do not offer traditional couples massages, where both massages happen in the same room. However, we can schedule you both to receive massages at the same time.

If you have any trouble scheduling two massages at the same time, please call or text us at 512-808-0603, and we will help you.

Policy

Am I supposed to tip? Is it required?

Tipping your massage therapist is always appreciated, but never expected. Your massage therapist is fairly compensated for their time, but gratuity is a great way to express appreciation for their skills, care, and effort.

We encourage 20% if you have the means and you are extremely satisfied with your massage. However, in different circumstances, $10 or $20 is enough to show your gratitude to your massage therapist.

Regardless, our massage therapists are happy about every session and cannot wait to work with you. If you do not want to tip or cannot afford to, it should never hold you back from getting a session with us. We want to help everyone as much as we can!

What's your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We require at least 48 hours’ notice before your original appointment start time to cancel or reschedule any appointment. All cancellations and rescheduling must be done through our online booking portal.

We strictly enforce this policy to honor the value of our therapists’ time. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice before your original appointment start time, you will be charged the full cost of the appointment.

If you need to make a late cancellation, please call or send us a text message so we can receive as much notice as possible.

Can I bring my dog?

Please don't.

In cases of service animals, we can allow a pet into your appointment with you. For all service animals, please give us at least 24 hrs notice via text or email to alert us that you will be bringing a service animal.

Massage Techniques

What is Swedish Massage?

Swedish Massage is the most commonly known massage technique today. Involving long, gliding strokes, it is designed to help you relax and gently unwind muscle tension.

What is Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

Lymphatic drainage massage uses flowing, light to medium pressure techniques from Swedish massage, targeted towards areas with lymph nodes, stimulating lymph movement, and for boosting overall circulation. If increasing lymphatic flow is a massage goal, Swedish massage will provide the gentle and flowing strokes needed to help move stagnant tissue.

What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue massage is a massage technique that targets the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue to relieve pain and help you open up. It uses slower strokes and more pressure than Swedish massage to break up knots and adhesions.

What is Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage?

Swedish Massage techniques can be paired with Deep Tissue techniques for an integrated experience. Combining both techniques into one session, you can get the relaxation of Swedish Massage, with the effective therapy of Deep Tissue.

Here at Neu Release Massage, we balance the Swedish and Deep Tissue in your massage to your goals.

What is Sports Massage?

Sports massage is a massage technique that is designed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, prevent injuries, and recover faster from training or competition. It involves a combination of deep tissue massage, stretching, and other therapeutic techniques to improve circulation, reduce muscle soreness and tension, and enhance range of motion, leading to a quicker recovery.

What is Stretch Therapy?

Stretch therapy is a type of manual therapy that involves assisted stretching techniques to increase flexibility, mobility, and range of motion in the body. Lengthening tight tissues, Stretch Therapy can improve overall physical performance and reduce the risk of injury.

What is Thai Massage?

Thai Massage is a fully clothed massage that requires the therapist to use both their hands, legs, and feet during the massage. Performed on a mat on the ground, this combination allows the massage therapist to gain leverage for powerful stretches and deep compressions.

What is Ashiatsu Massage?

In Japanese, “Ashi-” means legs and “-atsu” means pressure, so literally translated as foot pressure. Ashiatsu massage is a deep compression massage that involves the therapist using their feet. This type of massage is also known as “backwalking”. It’s effective for people who prefer a deeper pressure massage.

What is Fijian Massage?

Similar to Ashiatsu massage, Fijian massage is performed with the therapist’s feet. It originated from the traditional healing methods of the Fijian islands. It is a fully clothed massage, performed on a mat on the ground.

What is Neu Release™ Massage?

If you love deep massage, Neu Release™ Massage is the next level. Using deeper pressure and sustained compressions, Neu Release™ is designed for serious relief.

Neu Release™ is a clothes-on massage performed on a mat on the ground, with the therapist using their full body to deliver pressure and stretches. No oil or lubricants are used. The therapist slowly kneads and rocks the body to feel for restrictions and adhesions, then applies focused compressions to release trigger points and fascial restrictions.

Because it is deeper and more effective than traditional massage, Neu Release™ is a great fit for active people or anyone struggling with chronic pain. If you've ever wished the benefits of your massage would last longer, Neu Release™ may be a great fit for you.

What is the difference between Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage and Neu Release Massage?

Swedish and Deep Tissue massage are what most people are already used to. The therapist will do long, flowing strokes, along the full body, to promote relaxation and reduce tension.

If you like deep massages and are interested in trying something new, then our signature Neu Release Massage is right for you. It looks a little bit different than Swedish Deep Tissue Massage: you will be fully clothed, on a warm mat on the ground. Integrating advanced deep tissue methods with assisted stretching, Neu Release technique is targeted for deeper pain relief and recovering from chronic tension.

What is Prenatal Massage?

Prenatal massages are full body massages, similar to Swedish massage, but modified to accommodate the safety and comfort of an expecting mother.

What is Abdominal Massage?

Abdominal Massage focuses on the muscles of the core, the visceral fascia surrounding the organs, the deep muscles used for breathing, and the deep hip flexors and postural stabilizers. It can be helpful for physical or emotional tension in the core, shallow breathing, slow digestion, persistent lower back tension, pinching in the front of the hips, pelvic imbalance affecting posture, or a more holistic reconnection to your center.

Abdominal Massage can feel intense, but your therapist will adapt to your body and can modify the pressure and intensity to your preference. Deep abdominal massage can be very powerful, while lighter work can feel more relaxing.

What is TMJ Massage?

TMJ massage focuses on the muscles of the jaw, neck, scalp, upper shoulders, and chest. The goal is to reduce tension from jaw clenching and grinding, correct imbalances in the jaw, and ease the upper-body tension that contributes to jaw pain. By releasing trigger points in the shoulders, neck, and jaw, you should feel more open in your face and jaw, experience less headaches, and have more relaxed shoulders.

TMJ massage is a highly advanced treatment and is only offered by specific therapists. It is only available in our Neu Release™ Sessions or Advanced Therapy treatments.

Massage Terminology

Trigger Point Release

Trigger point release is a massage technique that targets specific points within a muscle that are causing pain or discomfort. It involves applying pressure to the trigger point for a period of time to release the tension. This technique has been proven effective for relieving pain.

Acupressure

Acupressure follows the points and meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Holistically guided, acupressure points communicate with the full system by connecting through underlying energetic pathways in the body.

The study of acupressure also reveals shared patterns between maps of Western trigger points, showing similar patterns of how tension develops in both systems.

Reflexology

Traditional acupressure points of the foot connect to the whole body. Massaging these points with deep focused pressure on the feet stimulates energy along the meridians, and brings deep relaxation.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a massage technique that targets the fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs in the body. Fascia can become tight or restricted due to injury, poor posture, or stress, which can cause pain, limited mobility, and tension. Myofascial release involves sustained pressure and stretching of the fascia to release tension and restore movement, which can alleviate pain and improve overall function.

Active Release

Active Release is a technique that requires you to move through range of motion, while the massage therapist is applying pressure to a trigger point. This technique works especially well to help calm down overused muscles from repetitive strain. During active releases, you may integrate new and better movement patterns.

Trager Therapy

Trager Therapy was developed by Dr. Milton Trager as a way to relax muscles by gently rocking the body and joints. Gentle rocking has been shown to have a soothing effect on the nervous system.
