Ancient History

Aromatherapy is a practice as old as time.

The ancient practice of aromatherapy dates back to over 3500 B.C. and was commonly used as medicine to treat a variety of ailments. However, the term "aromatherapy" was coined by French chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse in 1935 after he successfully used essential oil infused with lavendar to treat a severe burn.

There have also been additional tests and research done in the late 1920's that display the efficacy of the antibacterial properties of essential oils. It is no coincidence that aromatherapy has stuck around for thousands of years and has been used by nearly every modern civilization to walk this earth.
